You want to teach scubadiving...

Nothing is more satisfying than passing on your passion to other people and becoming a PADI Professional gives you exactly that oppertunity. Obviously there will be a lot to learn; new skills, theory and we put a lot of emphasis on a professional mentality too. But once you get certified as a Pro and start teaching what you love, there is nothing like it!

In this day and age where everybody is in a hurry and almost everything is digital, scuba diving is more relevant than ever. It allows you to disconnect, brings you quality time with friends or family and lets you connect with nature on a whole new level. As a PADI Professional it is your responsibility, but also privilege, to teach people the skills, knowledge and mentality for a life time of amazing adventures. Next to that we as divers are also the ambassadors for the underwaterworld and its protection. Your influence on the diving community as a PADI Professional will continue long after you retire…’

Become a PADI Pro, there is nothing like it

Davy – PADI Master Instructor

PADI Divemaster course

Being a PADI Divemaster is very cool, but there’s a lot of work to be done to get there!

This course will train you to guide certified divers on their fun dives, teach snorkelling courses and help PADI Instructors in teaching various scuba courses and Discover Scuba Dives. Besides learning new skills and abilities, you will go through an internship where you will work with real students in courses, teaching Discover Scuba Dives and guide real divers.

Theory

There is quite a bit of theory involved in the Divemaster course, like knowledge about equipment, PADI rules, general diving knowledge, but also physics and physiology. You will need to work through all this online and through presentations from your Instructor, before taking the 2 Divemaster exams, for which you will need to score 75%. You can start your theory online from home before coming to Ibiza

Confined Water

A large portion of the Divemaster course will be taught in confined water. You'll be learning to demonstrate skills, practice rescue exercise 7, Divemaster stress test, and swimming tests too. Obviously you will do a lot of assisting Instructors for your internship too.

Open Water

For the Divemaster course you will be learning to guide certified divers from our boat, assist in continue education courses and open water courses. Also the Deep and Search & recovery workshops take place in open water.

Duration

The planning of the Divemaster courses is flexible and partially depends on other courses being taught (the ones you need to assist in). Normally the Divemaster course takes 12 days. They do not need to be consecutive days. Contact us for a personalised course plan.

Costs

We have 4 package deals for the Divemaster course; the price is 1098€ for the Basic version, 1155€ for the standard, 1248€ for Premium and 1732€ for VIP. All prices are excluding the PADI fee, which is around 140€ that you pay directly to PADI.

Pre Requisites

To be able to participate in the Divemaster course, you need to be generally healthy (A medical certificate is mandatory, which can be done at our diving center for 57€), a minimum of 18 years old, certified as a rescue diver, certified (or updated) in Emergency First Response in the last 24 months.

Jochen

‘Myself and my boyfriend are just back from our first ever dive at Cala Pada Diving Center. I cannot stress enough how much we enjoyed it. The staff were all so friendly, especially our dive leader Pedro. He went above and beyond for us and I feel like he made our experience that much more enjoyable. He was extremely patient and a great teacher. We both learnt so much and are so glad we did it. The price is absolutely fantastic for what you get. I would highly recommend to anyone!!’

Clare

‘Nicole and Matthias were our instructors for our first ever diving session and were absolutely incredible! So very patient and made us feel completely at ease. Nothing was a silly question, they gave us plenty of time to practice until we were comfortable and stuck to every word they said!
The facilities are good, the staff are so friendly and helpful and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!
Thank you so much to the team at Cala Pada – we hope to be back to see you soon!’

PADI Instructor Development Course

The most amazing experience of your life will be the PADI Instructor Development Course!

Exhilarating, tough at times, incredibly FUN, rewarding and your ticket to the world.

Being a Scuba Diving Instructor you will ultimately be responsable for peoples lives, so expect us to be tough on you throughout the course! (We are very nice people though 😉 )

Working with your fellow students (who will become your lifelong friends and worldwide network), you will be taught the basics of educational theory, build upon your Divemaster knowledge and skills, learn to use assistants effectively and become a master of the PADI system. Following and teaching theory presentationspool workshops and teaching in Open Water will be your daily tasks, getting feedback and improving every day.

Theory

In the IDC we will assume you allready learned most of the dive theory in your Divemaster course. (Although we will obviously check en help you where needed). We will therefore focus on what's new for you, which is PADI Standards and educational theory. You will need to do the dive theory exam 2 times and also the PADI standards exam twice. Next to that you will learn to teach (short) theory presentations. Before the starting date of the course, you will be required to work through the theory online.

Confined Water

One of the major parts of the IDC is learning to teach skills in confined water. You will demonstrate the skill and you'll need to solve any problems that might occur when your "students" give it a try. We will spend time to improve on your skill demonstrations, rescue skills and different workshops.

Open Water

Parallel to confined water you will also learn to teach in open water, focussing on safety, efficiency and good teaching practices (like optimal use of your assistant).

Duration

The IDC (including EFR Instructor) takes 12 full days plus 2 days for the Instructor Examination.

Costs

We have 4 package deals for the Instructor Development Course; the price is 1150€ for the Basic version, 1725€ for the standard, 2204€ for Premium and 2703€ for VIP. All prices are excluding PADI (exam) fees. These are around 900€ that you pay directly to PADI upon booking your exam.

Pre Requisites

To be able to participate in the PADI Instructor Development Course, you need to be generally healthy (A medical certificate is mandatory, which can be done at our diving center for 57€), a minimum of 18 years old, certified as a PADI Divemaster and an EFR Instructor, or doing the EFR Instructor course in tandem with the IDC.

5 reasons for you to become a PADI Instructor

  1. You will be able to teach Open Water, Advanced, Rescue and Divemaster courses independently.
  2. You will be able to pass on your passion by teaching people to dive.
  3. You will gain the most respected Instructor certification in the world.
  4. You will gain the opportunity to work anywhere in the world.
  5. You will become part of the world wide community of PADI Instructors

PADI IDC Staff Instructor

As a PADI IDC Staff Instructor you will be ‘teaching the teachers of tomorrow”. No need to say what a great responsability that is! To be able to live up to that responsability, you will need to be a master at everything that concerns teaching scuba diving. Your theory presentations need to be ace, your confined and open water presentations need to be near-perfect as well as your understanding of PADI Standards and dive theory. On the other side, your sense of accomplishment when your candidates pass their Instructor Examination will be unbelievable. If you want to become the best you can be, this is definitely the course for you.

Theory

As a PADI Instructor you had to learn a lot about PADI Standards, or dive theory. As a PADI IDC Staff Instructor you need to able to explain this to them on an Instructor level. This means you will need to do the same exams as your candidates, but you will need to score 80%. You are expected to teach some of the IDC presentations too, according to the PADI system of teaching theory presentations, of course. Furthermore you will learn how to score presentations for your candidate.

Confined Water

You will be required to demonstrate parts of the skill circuit for your Instructor candidates and coach them to a higher level. There will be an assessment of your skills before the IDC starts. You will need to teach high level confined water presentations, and also learn how to score your candidates and assign mistakes.

Open Water

Like in confined water you will need to show your mastery of teaching in Open Water. You will learn how to score your candidates, assign problems, what to focus on, how to give them proper feedback and general coaching techniques.

Duration

The IDC Staff Instructor course consists of one day preparation where we asses your skills in confined, open water and theory and teach you scoring techniques. After that you will assist in a full 12 day IDC with real students. You are invited to attend the 2 day Instructor Examination too, but it's not mandatory.

Costs

We have 2 package deals for the IDC Staff Instructor course; the price is 723€ for the standard and 1098€ for Premium. These prices are excluding PADI Application fee of around 140€ that you pay directly to PADI upon certification.

Pre Requisites

To be able to participate in the IDC Staff Instructor course, you will need to be a certified PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer in teaching status and with no recent Quality Assurance problems.

5 reasons for you to become a PADI IDC Staff Instructor

  1. You will be certified to assist in teaching Instructor level courses
  2. You will be able to teach Assistant Instructor courses independently
  3. You will gain accces to management level positions in the diving industry

PADI DSD Leader course

Theory

There is very little theory to be done in the DSD Leader course. You will, however, be expected to know and apply all relevant PADI Standards, which means you will need to do a short Standards exam.

Confined Water

In the DSD Leader course you will be teaching a minimum of 4 Discover Scuba Diving programs in confined water.

Open Water

There are no requirements in open water for the DSD Leader course, although you are welcome to practice teaching the optional open water dive from the DSD program.

Duration

We are flexible in planning the DSD Leader course. Obviously the planning will also depend on bookings for the Discover Scuba Diving program, since we want you to work with real students (fortunately we have bookings every day). You will need to teach at least 4 Discover Scuba Diving programs, which means you're looking at a minimum of 2 days. They do not need to be consecutive days.

Costs

The costs of the DSD Leader course are 198€, excluding the PADI application fee of around 50 € which you pay directly to PADI upon certification.

Next to our Instructors, we also have the best possible logistics to teach the DSD program in a stress-free and comfortable environment. We teach the DSD Leader course in English, German, Dutch, Spanish and French.

PADI Assistant Instructor Course

The PADI Assistant Instructor course is. the first half of the Instructor Development Course. This means that after certification, you can continue your Instructor course at any time in the future. As a Divemaster you were mostly focussed on certified divers and in the Assistant Instructor course you will start focussing on actual teaching. A big plus is that, unlike in the Instructor Development course, you do not have to take the official PADI Instructor Examination, or become an EFR Instructor to get certified

Theory

Obviously being an Assistant Instructor, you need to be able to explain theory to your diving students, so you will learn how to give theory presentations following the PADI system of teaching. You also need to know where to find and how to use PADI standards in different courses. This means you will need to do the PADI Standards exam and pass with 75%. Furthermore you will learn a lot about educational theory. You will need to work through the theory before the course starts.

You will take part in the 2 day PADI Instructor Examination after completing the course.

Theory
